Inspired by a colorful graphic, this piece aimed to depict a majestic animal in a woodland lake for a wine label. , I had planned to drape grapes over its rack  with a yellow-orange sunrise between its giant antlers. While painting, I struggled to elongate the snout and position the eyes properly, and after three frustrating days, I realized my mistake: I was trying to paint a moose but was using a reference picture of a robust elk. Once I corrected this, elongating the nose, turning the rack into paddles and moving it in front of the ears, everything fell into place. The eyes convey the intensity of my frustration which, in turn, hindered the playful grape draping I had initially envisioned. The piece’s name is fitting with its double meaning considering my painting’s backstory.
