Inspired by the tranquility of a mild winter’s day, I felt compelled to capture the essence of the woods that my daughter, Rio, and I love to explore. Using a palette of soft blues, purples, and yellows, I crafted a scene depicting the serenity of a lightly snow-covered forest. The tall skinny canvas adds to the verticality of the composition, mirroring the towering coniferous trees.
I love the way the sunlight filters through the dense canopy, casting warm hues across the snowy ground. The leaning tree adds depth and contrast to the scene, breaking up the vertical scape and drawing the viewer’s eye toward the figure of Rio. As she walks through the woods on this crisp winter day, the promise of spring is palpable in the air, hinted at by the gentle glow of sunlight and the faint backdrop of sky peeking through the trees.
