Description
This painting was my way of processing the loss of my sweet terrier, Measle, who passed away at just four years old. His playful spirit perching on my shoulders or leaping into my arms lingers in my memory. As I painted, I poured my grief into each stroke, blending emotion with color. Inspired by Don McLean’s song “Vincent” and Van Gogh’s famous painting Starry Night, I created Sorry Night, adding a Milky Way and shooting star as a tribute to my beloved companion. Capturing Measle’s likeness was bittersweet, but seeing his bent ear and button nose emerge on the canvas brought both sorrow and joy. Even now, the painting keeps his memory alive, a celebration of a life far too short.
