Commissioned for Kathy in celebration of her husband Mike’s 77th birthday, Mike’s Moon is a vivid tribute to cherished memories and lifelong passions. Inspired by a treasured photograph Mike took in Bolivia, the painting captures the ethereal glow and quiet majesty of a moonlit eclipse, rendered in cadmium yellow, hot orange, deep Prussian blue, and highlighted with white to create a luminous, almost metallic effect. The work evokes nostalgia, celebrating not only a remarkable journey to a far-off land but also the joy, pride, and wonder these moments bring. Every brushstroke reflects the love of a devoted wife honoring a lifetime of memories and the magic of a moon that has illuminated both adventure and reflection.
