Love Never Forgets (Prints)

Description

I love hunting for interesting canvases and frames at thrift shops, and sometimes splurging on one that feels like it has potential. Recently, I found a large horizontal canvas with a fence line and pink flowers among trees. Once in the studio, I decided to turn it vertically, and that simple change sparked a wave of creativity. In the dim morning light, only shadowy shapes were visible, and like spotting figures in clouds, I began to see a mother elephant and her tiny calf. Overpainting the original scene, I transformed the canvas into a playful, lively painting, choosing citrine greens and soft pastels to bring energy and movement to the elephants.

I almost named it Peanut—the little calf is so sweet, representing the steadfast bond between mother and child. A friend suggested Love Never Forgets, inspired by the connection between the two and the playful nod to elephants’ legendary memory. The painting became a celebration of care, resilience, and the quiet joy found in a loving bond.
