This painting captures the lakeside town as night settles in. The city lights glow in soft golds and whites, spilling onto the surface of the lake in streaks of reflected color. Behind the town, the dark mountain ridge rises and extends across the canvas, its form anchoring the horizon. Above, the sky shifts from a hot orange band at the edge of sunset into deeper indigos filled with stars. This piece is about the vibrancy of the town against the quiet power of the mountain, the meeting of human light and natural night.

This piece stands beautifully on its own or as part of a diptych with “Sails in Stillness.”
