Artist Inspiration: When I painted The Mystic, I wanted to capture the feeling of a horse completely free-running hard through water and dirt, with its mane and tail flying behind it. I filled this one with vibrant reds, teals and oranges and lots of palette-knife movement to bring that energy and joy to life. For Jay and Susie, horses are so much more than beautiful animals; they are a meaningful part of their lives and of their dedication to Swiftsure Therapeutic Ranch, where horses help bring healing, connection and hope to others.
To me, The Mystic is about that same spirit—freedom, joy, movement and the extraordinary bond between people and horses.
