As I embarked on the task of creating wine labels for an upcoming release at Sandpoint’s Pend Oreille Winery, inspiration struck with a vivid image of rolling hills bathed in the hues of purple, orange, and yellow skies. Nestled beneath the comforting shade of a tree, a quaint house breathed life into the vineyard landscape while I delicately enhanced the grapes using a Q-tip to provide subtle detail. It was on Good Friday that I chose to capture this scene, a nod to the symbiotic relationship between wine and the Holy Spirit. I particularly like how the distant blue mountains, dusted lightly with snow, provide a striking contrast against the blazing sun. It’s said that the sight of this late snow instills hope, a promise that it will soon yield to the warmth, signaling the onset of harvest season.
