Artist Inspiration: I wanted to capture the quiet drama of an open fire in the mountains—a blaze glowing against a soft, gray evening sky, its light catching the nearby trees and warming the earth tones of the landscape.
Beyond the fire, a still lake and snow-covered mountains fade into the distance. Smoke rises from the flames and drifts across the landscape, creating a hazy veil between the foreground and the mountains beyond. A faint moon hangs in the sky, almost disappearing into the atmosphere.
There is something elemental about this scene—the contrast of fire and snow, warmth and cold, light and shadow. The fire draws the eye, but the surrounding landscape holds the stillness. I wanted the painting to feel quiet, wild, and timeless, like a moment that exists somewhere between evening and night.
