Artist Inspiration: Talus Rock Retreat has been more than my home for several decades. It is my architectural art palette — a canvas built in stone, stucco, wood, and light, created with gratitude in response to God’s blessings on our family. Nestled in the woods of Sandpoint, Idaho, Talus Rock has always been a gathering place where beauty, hospitality, and connection meet. Every arch, texture, and natural element was intentionally woven together — not just to create a structure, but a feeling: a refuge, a sanctuary, a place where memories are made.
This autumn scene captures why Talus Rock has always been my favorite canvas. The fiery oranges, warm golds, and unexpected citron greens of the surrounding forest frame the strength and texture of the stone and stucco architecture. The changing seasons, the landscape, and the home come together as one composition — a living palette where nature and design belong to one another.
Talus Rock Retreat is my love letter to God for the blessings found within its walls — a chapter of our family story representing dreams built, prayers answered, and the recognition of a gift that was never ours alone.
