Artist Inspiration: Commissioned to create a wine label, I aimed for it to be fun, colorful, and bright. Starting with a pink and blue palette and working from the top down, I painted the colorful sky against a backdrop of layered mountains and distant hillsides. The festive and playful scene is set along a fence line of grapevines, with an old barn farmhouse in the background. In the foreground, a whimsical lady kicks her feet in the wine barrel while indulging in stomping grapes while drinking wine from the bottle, a playful homage to my crazy, wine-loving mother, Barbara, (aka ‘Mimi’). Despite wearing a garden hat, her face has a sunburnt glow, which might, indeed, be due to the merry wine.
