Artist Inspiration: Living in North Idaho, it felt inevitable to paint a bold, colorful moose rooted in a quiet, marshy landscape. I chose a challenging pose, capturing him looking back over his shoulder, his large paddles glowing in unexpected shades of orange and pink against the subdued tones of water and grass. The twist of his body pushed my skills with proportion, foreshortening, and shadow, and for days the painting required careful adjustment.
In the end, a single confident pass of paint brought the moose into balance and allowed the piece to come together. I resisted the urge to overwork the details and stepped back, letting the painting be finished. The result is both strong and reflective—a reminder that patience, trust, and a fresh approach often reveal the way forward.
