Print of original oil on canvas.
Artist Inspiration: This painting holds a special place in my heart. It was born during a long train ride across Montana from Idaho to North Dakota to visit my husband, Bruce. Sitting in the Amtrak observation deck, I was captivated by the raw beauty of the wide-open landscape, run-down shacks, weathered barns, and quiet farmhouses stretching toward the horizon. I wanted to capture that journey on canvas. The brooding sky and subtle tones of the dry foreground reflect the tension of an approaching storm. A small church in the distant left corner became a quiet anchor, a human touch in the vastness. What I love most is the contrast of scale, the tiny church beneath a massive sky, and how the painting takes me back to that ride, to the stillness, the anticipation, and the quiet magic of Montana.
