Artist Inspiration: At first, the stoic tree felt like enough, but the scene still lacked life and balance. I tried adding a bird. A cardinal, a chickadee, then a bright tanager, but nothing worked; the bird and tree competed for attention. Finally, I replaced it with a subtle yellow orb, and the painting clicked. I love how the snow now drapes into the birch’s crook, capturing the quiet, peaceful essence I was seeking. I almost named it sNOw Bird, but the story wouldn’t make sense without context. Instead, it became Butterscotch Moon, inspired by the soft yellow candies in my Nana Banana’s dish: warm, glowing, and full of memory.
