GOgh-kART
Meet the GOgh-kArt: Turning a Plain U-Haul into the Ultimate Art-Show Chariot!
Heading to my very first art show, I found myself driving a big pickup piled high with booth supplies, full of excitement but a little unprepared for the long journey ahead. As I made my way on a 9-hour journey from Sandpoint to Sun Valley, I realized I hadn’t fully planned for the distance—or the weather. So, I shopped my way down the road, and after two trailers were sold out from under me while I was en route, I finally struck gold in Butte. I changed-up the search query in Facebook marketplace from “cargo trailers” to “ trailer parts”, and in a God-incidence, it led me to a fresh new prospect just 15 minutes from where I was staying for the night.
With the help of my friend Laurie, I found the perfect little vintage 1970 U-Haul trailer—small, sweet, and just the right size: 4 feet wide, 5 feet high, and 7 feet long. I wanted it to be fun and colorful, something that embodied mountains, moons, and creativity. I painted the entire trailer in a palette of seven vibrant colors, and in the middle of the night, the name came to me: GOgh-kART. Inspired by Vincent van Gogh, with a playful nod to its go-kart-like size, this tiny trailer now carries my heart and art wherever I go. It sparks conversations, spreads joy, and brings my vibrant colors to life on the road.
