With Hemingway, I wanted to capture the character that comes through in a sheep’s face. I layered warm oranges, reds, creams, and cool blues across the painting, allowing the colors and texture to blend together while still keeping him recognizable. His thick, textured wool became an important part of the piece, giving his rugged texture. I wanted him to feel like a sheep that belongs in the mountains- strong, steady, and comfortable in his surroundings.
