I wanted Ketchum to capture the playful, curious nature of a sheep on the move. I used bright yellows, oranges, and reds throughout the piece to give the painting a warm, lively energy. The sheep’s face and expressive features become the focus, surrounded by loose, colorful marks that make the painting feel almost as energetic as the animal itself. To me, Ketchum represents that wandering spirit that feels so familiar in the Wood River Valley- always exploring, always moving, and never quite staying in one place.
